Monday Ladder

Dates: Every Monday night

Times: 6:30 and 8:45 pm

Convenor: Maegan Hough

Format and Rules:

  • Open semi-competitive league
  • Four sections, 6 teams each.
  • At the end of each round, the top 2 teams in each section move up, the bottom 2 teams drop down.
  • 3 points for a win, 1 point for a loss, 0 points for a loss by default.
  • To break ties at the end of the round between teams with the same record, the tied teams are ranked by applying the following rules in order until one tie is broken. If a one or more ties remain, the rules are applied to each tie starting from rule 1. The process continues until all ties are broken and all teams are ranked.
    1. The teams are ranked using their head-to-head record against the other teams in the tie.
    2. The teams are ranked using the point differential for their games in the round against the other teams in the tie.
    3. The teams are ranked using the point differential for all the games in the round against all teams.
    4. The teams are ranked using their initial ranking in the round.
  • A-section winner of the last round is the Monday Ladder Champion. Bar bucks will be awarded after the final round to A, B,C and D section winners.
  • Last end: As of 8:10 PM teams are allowed to finish the end they are in and play one more. In order to be in an end, the first rock must have reached the nearer tee line. As such, in order to play the eighth end, the first rock of the seventh end must have crossed the nearer tee line before the clock changes to 8:11. Similarly to play the seventh if the teams are playing in the sixth at 8:11. It is also understand that the teams will play at a pace to allow for ice maintenance in time to avoid a delay for the next game that is scheduled to start at 8:45, so slowing down after reaching 8:11 is disrespectful for the 8:45 teams thus unacceptable.
  • Ties: Decided by skip's rocks with sweeping and recorded as "W + 0" and "L - 0".
  • Spares: All the OCC Sparing Rules apply to this league with the following exceptions. At least one team member must be present for the game to count or a default is posted.  In the event that there is only one regular member present, the regular member must play one of the back end positions.
  • Defaults: Recorded by "W + D" and "L - D". The end of the round-robin point system noted above (3 for a win, 1 for a loss and 0 for a loss by default) alleviates some potential tie-breakers.  In the rare event where there are multiple defaults in the same round, and game point differential is required to break ties, the convener will award +3 to the non-offending team and zero points to the defaulting team.
