CANADIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Team Homan for winning the 2010 Canadian Junior Championships in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. Rachel Homan (Skip), Emma Miskew (Third), Laura Crocker (Second), Lynn Kreviazuk (Lead) and Earle Morris (Coach) went undefeated and beat British Columbia by a score of 9-5 in the finals.
Team Homan will represent Canada at the world junior curling championships in Flims, Switzerland March 6-14.
The game was broken open in the sixth end when Rachel Homan made a remarkable raise takeout to sit 3 buried in the four foot. Dailene Sivertson (B.C. Skip) could only try an angle tap to minimize the damage, but it sailed through the four foot. The steal of three made the score 7-3 after 6 ends.
Its only the fourth time that a women's team has won the Canadian title with an undefeated record. Congratulations and good luck in Switzerland.
