OTTAWA - RIDEAU CHALLENGE (Dec. 29)
The Ottawa - Rideau Challenge is scheduled for Tuesday December 29 at 6:00 pm at the OCC. A sign-up sheet has been posted in the main lounge. This is a great way to represent the Ottawa Curling Club in a fun / social competition against our favourite rivals.
This rivalry has been going on since 1909. The Rideau is the other downtown Ottawa curling facility that began when some disgruntled Ottawa members left this club to form their own curling group. The issue was this club's temperance policy.
That isn't the case anymore as the annual event takes place between Christmas and New Year's Day (December 29 this year), adding to the spirited competition. The venue alternates annually between clubs.
This event is open to all Ottawa Curling Club members. Its only $20 and that includes dinner.
