  • WHEN WILL YOU START CURLING?

    The plant is now on, the new hacks are here, the painting equipment is all set so curling is coming soon. Stay tuned for the exact dates for your league starts. We are aiming for a Wednesday September 29 start.

    The Mixed League does begin the Friday after Thanksgiving weekend.

    The OCC to the rescue! The RCMP Curling Club is in the midst of replacing their plant. Like any renovation surprises have delayed their season opener. The RCMP Fall Classic bonspiel has been switched to the Ottawa Curling Club September 22 to 26.

  • NEW ICE MAKER FOR OCC

    Jon Wall, a long time Ottawa Curling Club member as well as the assistant ice maker to Dwayne Lowe, is now the Ice Technician for the Ottawa.

    "I'm very happy to make the ice at the OCC. I'm looking forward to the challenge and hope to be at the Ottawa for a long time."

    Mr. Wall has his Level 1 Ice Technician certification as well as a Recreation Facility Management degree from Algonquin. Part of the course consisted of Arena Management and Operations with an emphasis on refrigeration.

    Wall has been tuotered by premier and nationally ranked Grand Slam ice maker, Mark Shurek, as well as working with Dwayne for the last three seasons.

    Mr. Wall has also helped make ice at four Grand Slams where he was the chief assistant for the the latter two.

    The OCC would like to thank Dwayne Lowe for his 3.5 seasons of service with us.

  • CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS TURNS INTO SKINS GAME

    On Monday nght at 8:30 the second draw for the Club Championships started. For the first time in OCC Club Championship history a team from the Getting Started league was competing.

    A large congtingent of Getting Started league fans showed up to cheer their league champions on against the Thursday Night Men's champs. Our hats are off to the spirit exhibited by these members and the member who almost showed his member when he streaked across the ice holding a strategically placed sign reading "COME ON GETTING STARTED LEAGUE". The championship final game is Wednesday evening at 8:30.

  • TEAM CANADA SIX ENDER RUNBACK AGAINST CHINA

    In their first game at the Junior Worlds in Switzerland, the Ottawa's Team Homan (Team Canada) scored a 6-ender via a Homan run back in their first game (versus Team China) who they eventually beat 12 -3.See the video here.

  • World Juniors in Switzerland

    The World Junior Curling Champions start today, in Flims, Switzerland.
    Representing Canada Rachel Homan, Emma Miskew,Laura Crocker ,Lynn Kreviazuk and Alison Kreviazuk Fifth, Earle Morris Coach.

  • SAVILL ADVANCES TO TIM HORTONS BRIER

    Craig SavillCash League skip and the lead on Team Glenn Howard, Craig Savill, helped his rink capture the Ontario Men's title at the Tankard in Napanee. The team went undefeated and will represent Ontario for the fifth straight year.

    The Tim Hortons Brier is in Halifax in March.

  • CANADIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONS

    2010 Champions HomanCongratulations to Team Homan for winning the 2010 Canadian Junior Championships in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. Rachel Homan (Skip), Emma Miskew (Third), Laura Crocker (Second), Lynn Kreviazuk (Lead) and Earle Morris (Coach) went undefeated and beat British Columbia by a score of 9-5 in the finals.

    Team Homan will represent Canada at the world junior curling championships in Flims, Switzerland March 6-14.

  • OCC SENIOR MENS TEAM SET TO COMPETE AT DOMINION ONTARIO SENIORS

    The Ottawa Curling Club foursome of Wally Morris, Randy Garland, Mike Pastuch and Dave McMahon will begin play at the Dominion Provincial Seniors Championship this Tuesday in Orillia.

  • CHEER OUR TEAM LIVE AT THE M&M MEAT SHOPS CANADIAN JUNIORS

    Should Team Homan (Team Ontario) make it to the finals on Sunday January 24 at 2:30 p.m., the Ottawa is checking out renting a coach to travel the 3 hours to Tracy, Quebec to cheer the girls on live. The cost of the one day round trip is being examined and is expected to come in at between $40 and $50, including admission to the arena. If you are interested in attending please contact the Manager. If you don't plan to make the trip come down to the Club and watch the game live on TSN.

  • TITLE DEFENDED

    Despite a determined effort by the Rideau crew, the OCC members prevailed to mount a come-from-behind 3-point victory at the last minute in the December 29 Ottawa-Rideau Challenge. Congrats to all who participated and cheered from both clubs.

     

  • HELP----------HELP--------HELP

    The Canadian Men’s and Women’s Senior Curling Championships are being held this year at the Ottawa Hunt Club from March 20-28.

    Each game needs on-ice observer who, with warm clothing provided by the C.C.A., will sit behind each sheet and, on a plastic sheet with coloured discs representing rocks, show the position of each rock in the house as the end is played. When the end is over, the observer will go to the other end of the sheet, put up the score and repeat the process until the game ends.
    No judgments or decisions are made by this observer.

  • SENIOR REGIONALS

    Congratulations to the Wally Morris team, representing the Ottawa Curling Club, for winning the A-side of the Senior Regionals this past weekend. Wally (and his team of Randy Garland, Mike Pastuch and Dave "Mr. McMahon" McMahon) advance to the provincial championships in Orillia, January 20-24. Good luck.

  • UNDER 18 PLAYDOWN WINNERS

    Jamie Sinclair's team from Manotick (play on Wednesdays at the OCC) won 2 straight in a best of three against Caitlin Romain from Iroquois Falls, in North Bay this weekend. Team Sinclair now moves on to Regina to represent Ontario in April at the Optimist U18. With Jamie are Cheryl Kreviazuk, Melissa Gannon and Rebecca Wichers-Schreur. Congratulations and good luck.

  • JUNIORS ADVANCE TO PROVINCIALS

    Congratulations to the teams of Rachel Homan and Jamie Sinclair for advancing to the Junior Women's provincial championship being held in Teeswater, Ontario January 2-6, 2009.

  • TEAM WINS MEN'S SPIEL IN NAVAN

    A rink composed of 4 men from various OCC leagues (Monday, Cash, Thursday and Saturday) captured the top spot in the JT Bradley Invitational. They were Serge Denis, Mike Johannsen, Chris Delage and John Lockett.

  • BANNER WEEKEND

    Craig Savill helped Glenn Howard defeat Kevin Martin on Sunday in the Cactus Pheasant Classic in Alberta. They earned $22,000. Rachel Homan and her squad of Emma Miskew and Lynne Kreviazuk beat the field to capture the women's side of the JSI OVCA Superspiel. Another Ottawa CC team lead by Neil Sinclair just lost out in an extra end in capturing the men's final of the event.

  • ST. LAMBERT MEN'S WINNERS

    Two OCC members from the Monday and Wednesday Open Leagues helped reigning Canadian Senior Champion Bruce Delaney win a men's spiel in St. Lambert, Quebec on the weekend.

  • OCC OPEN SECTION WINNERS

    At the recently concluded Challege Casino Lac Lemay, the Ottawa Curling Club rink of Shane Latimer, Terry Scharf, RJ and Ian Rathwell captured the Open section title and $1400. The team plays Wednesday night.

  • OCC MEMBER WINS GREY POWER WORLD CUP OF CURLING

    Saville2OCC Member Craig Savill, who plays lead for Team Howard, won his fourth consecutive Grey Power World Cup of Curling event, this past weekend in Mississauga.

    Fourteen of the best mens teams from around the world competed in this World Cup event. Team Howard defeated the team of Kevin Koe in the finals by a score of 8-6.

     

  • TWO OCC SKIPS MAKE FINAL

    Casino WinnerJean-Michel Menard defeated junior skip Neil Sinclair in the inaugural final of the Challenge Casino Lac Lemay on Sunday. Both skips play in the Cash League. Menard won $8,000 while Sinclair pocketed $5,000.

  • TEAM HANNA WINS MAC ICE CLASSIC

    Team Hanna from the OCC Cash League won the women's section and $3,000 at the Mac Ice Classic on Thanksgiving Monday. They battled Team Homan, another Ottawa rink, in the final. Team Hanna is Jennifer Hanna, Kelly Cochrane, Stephanie Hanna and Trish Scharf.

  • OCC Members Shine Early in Season

    Skips Rachel Homan and Neil Sinclair lead their rinks to victories this month.Homan Team 2

    Homan with Emma Miskew, Alison Kreviazuk and Lynn Kreviazuk went undefeated at the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic in Brockville on Sunday where they won the bonspiel.
