Some Rule NotesFour Rock RuleThe opponent's rocks in the free guard zone cannot be removed until the fifth rock of the end. Your own rocks can be removed from the FGZ at any time during this four-rock period. If an opponent's rock is removed from play, the shooter is removed and the rock goes back, as do all rocks that were touched. Slow Play RuleIt is important that all games start on time. Please ensure that you are on the ice at your start time and ready to curl. To encourage games to be played within a reasonable time, a time limit rule has been set by the match committee. The rule is club wide and is designed to ensure that late draws get off the ice at a reasonable time. The on ice clock is to be used as the official clock.
Skips should make each other aware of the time problem and deal with the issue to allow the 7th end to be played as the 8th, strategy wise. This rule is not intended as a license to play slow to ensure victory. If this becomes a problem the match committee will be asked to address the issue and deal with it as they see fit. Burnt Rock RuleAllow the rock to complete it's travel and then the non-offending team has
three options to look at when dealing with a burnt or touched moving stone: Skips rocks to break ties - all leagues except CashSkips rocks are used to break ties and there has been some question regarding sweeping. Only the throwing team may sweep the rock, the opposing team may not sweep behind the tee. Canadian Curling Association Rules of Curling For General PlayPlease review the Rules of Curling for General Play. These are the rules under which our league games are conducted.
