Welcome to the Ottawa Curling Club

  • Life membership nominations wanted

As we announced at the Spring Meeting, the Board is looking for nominations for life membership. Since the meeting, we have updated the policy to make it simpler and clearer.

If you know a member who meets the criteria below and you think is worthy of the honour, please forward your nomination to Dalal at manager@ottawacurlingclub.com

We will award life membership to a small number of worthy nominees at our opening celebration in September. Please get your nominations in soon and, preferably, no later than the start of September.

    New OCC Life Member Policy
Life Membership is the club's recognition of a member's sustained and exemplary contributions to the Ottawa Curling Club. It is awarded by discretion of the board to active members in good standing that have long tenure and who are easily recognizable as having made these extraordinary contributions to the club through volunteering, representing the club in competition, or being active in the club's community.

    Board nominations

We are also accepting nominations for the board. They must be received in writing at the club by August 25, 2017. Two members in good standing can nominate another member in good standing. The nomination must be signed by all three and the nominee must agree to stand for election and serve a term of two or possibly three years.

  • Team Peter Funspiel delivers huge support

Thank you doesn't express the deep gratitude and appreciation that go out to OCC members and other friends and family who attended the March 25th Team Peter Funspiel -  in support of Peter Glover, our family and the ALS journey we find ourselves on.  What an inspiring and uplifting event that was. And fun! Together this wonderful community raised over $20,000 towards Peter's care - absolutely remarkable and a testament to the goodness in so many and the strength of the human spirit.  Be proud, each and every one of you, for your participation and your contribution - this sort of funding makes personal care and specialized equipment more attainable as Peter's needs escalate.

Special hugs to Scott Fisher for his tremendous $800 contribution raised by outplaying so many at the crokinole table.

The team organizing this event was absolutely amazing and worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and in front, to stage a seamless, well-run event for all to enjoy.  Thank you, so much, to our club wonder Dalal and ace organizers Laura Trinkle-Mulcahy, Diane Lagace, Fiona Murray, Natalie Fletcher, Maureen and Tony Antonello, Lisa Presley-Burke, Mike Burke, Kim Eaton, Richard Scott, Charles Mulcahy, Sandy and Dave Hood, Alan Tyndall, Gary Corbett, Tom Lagace and a raft of volunteers.

Those who delivered silent auction and raffle items - excellent work. And those who brought a wonderful variety of snacks - delicious and we're still eating the leftovers.  Those who came to curl - work on your short game.  And those that came to dance - party on.

Carol Anne Meehan shot some video at the event, posted to her March 25th blog:

We were humbled and honoured to be the recipients of so many good wishes, such a terrific event and such generous donations.  Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

    Peter, Pat, Jack and Hanna

If you weren't able to attend, or would like to do more in support of Peter's ALS fund, a gofundme site has been set up in his name.  The proceeds from the Funspiel will be added to this fund, giving us a very solid funding base to draw upon in the coming months. https://www.gofundme.com/Help-Peter-Glover-manage-ALS-at-home
