2001-2002 Season Club News

Club Champions Crowned

Well folks, it was definitely a nail-biter. The fans saw the Bryan Cochrane team of Doug Johnston, Ian MacAulay and John Steski take on Gerry Anton and his team of Charlie Leblanc, Terry Cooper and Ted Kitchen. It was all tied coming home, but Cochrane had the hammer and had to make his last shot to get the win. Congratulations to Bryan and his team!

Same Fun, New Name

The annual Welton Beauchamp Curling Championships is set to descend on the Ottawa Curling Club and four other area curling clubs November 8-12, 2001.

Welton Beauchamp Inc. the event's long time sponsor, has been merged with another company so this premier cash curling event on the calendar is now called Cowan, Wright, Beauchamp - The Championships. And an event as prestigious as this by any other name is still as much fun.

Please read the sign up sheets in the lower viewing gallery to see how you can become involved in this "rub shoulders with all the greatest curlers in the world" event.

Cowan, Wright, Beauchamp - The Championships: November 8 to 12, 2001 - FIRE ON ICE!

This means that all public places and workplaces will be smoke-free with no allowances for designated smoking rooms. You may read more about the by-laws at the city's Smoke-Free By-Laws website. The Ottawa Curling Club is included in this by-law and as such there will be no more smoking at the OCC.
