Instruction
Clinics
September of every season
The kick-off to each season includes instruction clinics with accredited
instructors. Returning, new and prospective members are welcome, with no obligation
to join. Over the course of a morning and afternoon, each clinic covers an introduction
to the game, the importance of a proper warm-up, fundamentals of the game, the
delivery, sweeping techniques, scoring and strategy. Lunch is served for a nominal
cost.
Participants are asked to bring a curling push broom if they have one,
and wear loose-fitting, warm clothing (e.g., track suit and sweater),
curling or running shoes, and gloves. Club brooms are available, as is
tape to put on the sole of a shoe that will be the "sliding"
foot. For the other ("gripper") foot, a soft rubber sole provides
the best traction on the ice. Shoes should be cleaned thoroughly before
being used on the ice.
Instructional League
An open league is held on
Tuesday evenings which is designed to help new curlers learn the game. The league
is run by qualified instructors who will help show you the game while you experience
game situations with experienced curlers. There is no charge for members to participate in this league. Non-members can curl in the league
for a small fee, which is fully applicable towards a curling membership. Please
contact the club manager for more information.
Lessons
Lastly, the Club offers private and group lessons at reasonable rates. Contact
the club manager for more information.
