Cowan, Wright, Beauchamp - The Championships

November 28 - December 1, 2003
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Sponsored by Cowan Wright Beauchamp

The Ottawa Curling Club was host to some of the best curlers in Canada and we hope you didn’t miss it! An exciting mens final saw Jeff Stoughton defeat fellow westerner Jamie Koe 5-4. In the women’s final Brenda Nicholls stole the game 9-1 in five ends against Marilyn Bodogh. Read the full story on their website.

We offer our congratulations to our club members that qualified this year. Deb Karbashewski and her team of Tara Holland, Lisa Paddle and Andrea Leganchuk came within one point of advancing to the semi-finals, falling 8-7 to Nicholls. Jean-Michel Menard and his team of François Roberge, Eric Sylvain and Maxim Elmaleh lost 9-5 to Stoughton in the quarter-finals as well.

A big thank you goes out to our Manager, Dalal Abou-Eid, and President, Gord Perry Jr., for the long and strenuous hours they put in over the weekend to ensure players and spectators were well fed and watered and that, just generally, things ran smoothly. Thanks as well to Marie Cooper, Chad Smail and Susan McMinniman for (wo)manning the bar and to Jason Boppre and Bill Hughes in the kitchen for keeping the hungry masses well fed.
We also would like to say a huge thank you to all those club members that helped put on this event.
